I am back. What else can I say. I know it has been a while since anything on this page has been updated. No comments or no articles... Well it has been a good time for me as I have been busy with lots and lots of companies talking to me and deciding that "I am not a right match at this time". Well some of you understand what I am talking about. The dreaded Interview process.
Well I have been working for a while in my present position and as all good things should come to an end one time or other, I decided that it was time to move on with my career and find myself a new job. Well there were many free websites which helped me in this process. Some of them gave me the resources to prepare for all the weird questions every interviewer keeps asking while other provided me with the list of open positions available in various companies.
The positions are of various types and that in itself took some research and deciding what kind of position I wanted to go to. Work from home was one of the major ideas which I liked but looks like nobody liked that part especially with me doing it. Then there were traveling positions which pays some good amount and also takes care of some of your expenses as you spend most of the time on 'road'. Given the amount of time one has to spend in the airports to catch a flight I decided it was not worth it. Also it meant more 'Random Security Checks' and I wanted to avoid those and save some of my time. Coming to security checks did you know they are putting a X-Ray machine in Phoenix, AZ airport and some person at a 'Remote Location' will be looking at your X-Ray every time you walk through the machine. Good luck ladies.
Finally the normal work from office type of positions which are the more traditional positions available. Given the kind of work (Software Development) I do, it suited me the most and got me a good job at a MNC in my home town. So I am out to submit my resignation with my present company pretty soon and that I am sure will be one interesting blog to read.

'Tomorrow' never comes
Hey Everyone,
If you are reading this then I have been able to keep your interests alive with my blabberings and thats great. where are the comments? Where are the your ideas and how come I dont notice it. Well dont tell me you thought of posting it tomorrow. I know we all do postpone things but not this time guys... Go ahead and post your comments and read this further about procrastinate.
Well I started writing this article about 20 days before immediately after I completed my previous article. I left it in after typing in a couple of lines and decided to complete it 'tomorrow'. Well the next day came along but never was tomorrow. It was always today and I kept waiting for tomorrow to show up. It went to an extent where I totally forgot about getting this article completed. Well after a few weeks of procrastination I am back here and hope to get some more interesting articles for your all and I promise I will try to get some churned out time to time.
Coming to procrastination, n our school days we threw our books and tried to skip homeworks and reading unless it was the day before our exams. Well it continued to our college days and I can tell you atleast in this case "Practise does make one perfect", atleast in my case. What about consequences? What about it ... We can always think about it later isnt it. I guess I will continue about this at a 'later' time. So keep commenting...

Independent? Free? Think about it...
We as Indians celebrated our independence day on August 15 like every year. We entered the 60th year of our independence and we have achieved a good status when compared to our status in 1947, the year of our independence. As it should it did created a sense of pride in our nation and the effort of all the countrymen in reaching this state. Then I started looking at the pictures of the Independence day celebrations posted all over the web and started thinking what is independence....
Ok ok guys dont get started on the whole story of all the non-violence fights against the british attrocities and the great lengths our forefathers had to go to to achieve the independence from the britishers. I have read, heard and seen (on TV/movies) all the details you are talking about. Befor you get to the details I will tell you the exact picture which got me to think about it. It was one of our beloved Prime Minister in a bullet proof "box" with four gunmen behind him in view of the latest threats warnings made to us and informed by the US.
Well are we truely independent?? Are we really able to enjoy the freedom? Well I dont find that to be true. Let me take one at a time. Are we really independent? It doesnt seem to be so with all the discussions going on about the Nuclear Energy bill with US. We are importing oil and are totally dependent on the Middle eastern nations for our oil. We are importing food grains from various nations. We are dependent in many indirect ways at the US. We are dependent on their IT projects, we are dependent on the fashions and trends in various countries to follow it blindly and claim ourselves to be independent. We want to follow our peers during various stages of our lives and claim it as our freedom to do whatever we want to.
This brings the next point of enjoying the freedom. Do we really enjoy the freedom? We see our PM in a box during his most important speech of the year, we see the scare in others eyes when they have to go to areas where they are a minority. We see the people scared to come to vote in selected regions during the election be it for the local elections or for the whole nation. Is this the freedom our fore-fathers were looking for. Think about it ...

Rakshabhandan & Avani avittam
Hey!!
Here I am back with some insight on one of the festivals of India bringing back some sweet memories in turn....
Well as most of us from India are aware of the Rakshabhandan, the day when a sister ties a Rakhi on the hands of her brother and in turn he takes the duty of protecting her in this world from all evils. This is the day most brothers looks forward to seeing their sisters and plan on getting some interesting gifts (ofcourse money being the number one). The sisters eagerly wait for this day so they can get some gifts once the rakhi is tied.
But this is not the scenario with every boy and girl. Come on you all know what I mean by this. This is also the most dreadest day in the year by most of the college going guys. The girls take the chance provided this day to break the hearts of guys they are not interested in by tieing a rakhi and making him a brother and leaving him with no doubt about the relationship. This day has produced many heartbreaks I am aware of - some sad, and some funny ofcourse. Well to those who could keep their hopes alive by avoiding the girls - "Nice Work guys!!" and to those poor chaps who were forced to become brothers - "My Sympathies and wishes for your future relationships guys!!"
Well not many of you are aware of the second part of the title Avani Avittam. Well it literally means the day on which the Avittam/Dhanistha/Sravanam Star occurs in the Avani month according to the lunar calendar. This is of huge importance to Brahmins more so for the religious ritual than as a festival. Well this is the day when the brahmins who have had their Sacred Thread ceremony will be expected to change their threads (poonal in Tamil). The day starts with a head bath and the whole process of changing the threads which includes recitations of mantras and process. This day many people do some homams after the process. Once this is completed breakfast follows usually idlis. Lunch is also a huge feast arranged by the ladies in the family. This is a time when the whole family gets together and spends time together. Well this is a short insight for you all.
Happy Rakhabhandhan day to every sister and brother out there. Remember even if you are not together this day you are in each others thought. Happy Avaniavittam to you all

30 Days show about Outsourcing
I was spending the nite as usual before the idiot box scanning channels before leaving it on one channel with no change to the channel after that and I happened to see an interesting show. The 30 days on FX. I dont know if the show felt interesting because it covered Bangalore a city in India or because it covered Outsourcing a burning topic in United States and being in a software profession involves me directly or indirectly or just because the show itself was an interesting concept. The show was about an American who loses job and is sent to India to take up a job spend 30 days with an Indian family and live his life as a professional in India, where his job went.
This opened up various questions in me which were not related to the jobs directly but to the various other things which got covered directly or indirectly. First on the list was the traffic scenario from the view of an outsider. I having been and brought up in a similar city in India faced similar situation whenever I land in India taking a day or two to get used to the driving, Blaring horns, lack of rules and huge number of vehicles. If this was my situation I feel pity for an American who has never faced such a situation and has to live in such conditions for 30 days.
Second on my list was covered in detail in the show and that is the non-technical jobs in the call centers. Everyone covers about the technical jobs and the hefty pay packages they get paid for doing the job. But no one looks at the janitors who maintains the building, the security guys who make sure that you are working in a safe environment (ofcourse the main reason they are there is to stop you from stealing stuff from the building), and who can forget the chauffeurs you get to make sure you can come to office and leave office at erratic hours without worrying about transportation. These are not the only people there are also chefs in some of the offices who make sure you can get a snack whenever you need one. But are these people really getting a better lifestyle because of the call centers? Are their families living a better life and able to provide 3 decent meals a day? Well I am not sure of the answers but I do have a lot of questions and wish they had all the right answers.
Third on my list is the erratic behavior of the public. This was the crazy behavior of the bangalorean public when their favorite actor Rajkumar passed away. The show was filmed during this time and showed the situation in bangalore from an americans point of view when the actor died. I agree he was a great actor and was worshipped by many of his fans. But is it seriously necessary to damage public transport, get a Bandh called just to show that you lost your idol. People get a life. Show him respect by playing his songs or telecasting his movies not by burning public and private transportations on the road, throwing stones on buildings and injuring and troubling poor innocent people who are trying to carry on with their day to day life. Did you guys realise that you might have indirectly been responsible for some people to lose their daily food by resorting to this kind of behavior.
Well I guess I put forth most of my thoughts after seeing the experiences of a non-Indian in an India for 30 days. Looking forward for comments.

Hey Everyone
Well after listening to everyone for such a long time I decided to torture all of you with all the things. Well atleast this way I dont have to tell the same thing to everyone individually and spend that time in coming up with more Bakwaas. And I can tell you if not everything on this page most of it is going to be bakwaas. So welcome to the page and have fun going through it. If you have any ideas of topics which might be interesting or if you want to contribute to this page feel free.
