Given the successful launch of Chandrayaan, India's lunar probe, it seemed right to capture the beauty of moon through the man made brown clouds. Here is a sample of the same.

See the wildcat under control
Now here is my brave nephew. See how daringly he has controlled and mounted the wildcat. Shows all signs of being a Sundevil (Arizona State University).

Cell phones boon or bane
After a long long break I am back. The last year was empty for a vague piece of junk in my list. I hope to atleast maintain it better this year. Let me start with the topic I wanted to rant about.
A little background on it. I am presently in a SUN Tech Days conference for Java developers in Atlanta meeting some developers and people from the industry. As is the norm these days most of them carry or are forced to carry cellphones. This is a good thing for some of them as they can still attend the conference and be available on call instead of being in office expecting some issues.(This was one of my case too I was able to jump in and solve couple of issues during the sessions. Thats topic for another day).
Coming to the issue. The topics being interesting (a keynote speech, live demo of upcoming products/softwares, and some conference talks) attendees were interested in listening to the presentations and make the most of the time in the conference. Out of the blue you hear all kinds of music. Yes it was not from one of those annoying ads which claim that you have been selected or you are the one millionth customer on their website. As a matter of fact it was not from my laptop or from one of the co-attendees laptops. You guessed it right. It comes from a

CELL PHONE
Now think how annoying it can get for an interested listener. To make the matter worse they take the call and walk towards a corner of the hall and take the call. (Glad they didnt take it staying at their places). This is not just a one time occurance. I have seen people who casually cut the first call and the cell phones ring again in a few minutes. Well well well dont these cell phone come with a silent mode where the ringer is turned off and the phone vibrates instead. (If yours doesnt probably it is time for an upgrade). After listening to so many different ringtones I decided to vent a little and what better place than my own blog. I dont know who is going to bell the cat or cats in this case and tell them -"Hey buddy put it on vibrate mode".
Hey this is just not the case where people forgot in a conference. I was on a interview panel to screen a candidate on phone. He was taking the call on his land line and after 10 mins his cell phone went on with an annoying ring tone. Well mistakes happen and he cancelled the call. well give 2 mins and the cellphone rings again not just one but two more times. Well that was my limit before I told him to put it on vibrate mode or take the call of his before continuing with the interview process. I just dont understand isnt there any kind of cell phone etiquette? Are people not supposed to disable their ringtones before they enter office? Come one if you had to be available all the time you would have been born with an implanted cell phone (or telepathy so people dont have to call you at all). If you don't have it you probably dont need it.
